How To Apply

If you are interested in getting help this December it is very important to apply at the correct place.  Where you apply depends on where you live.

If you live in Kitchener or Waterloo…

The KW Christmas Bureau can help anyone living on a low income in Kitchener or Waterloo.

You must apply in person if you are in need of help, but if you have mobility issues or are unable to apply in person, you may contact the Emergency Food Hamper Program at 519-742-8327 or info@christmashampers.ca and they will assist you with your application.

If you have a mobility issue and you are connected to a social service agency in some way (counselling, outreach, crisis support) please ask them to contact us by phone at 519-742-8327 or by email at info@christmashampers.ca and we can work with them to register you.

Please bring a piece of identification for you and all of the people in your household.  If you are interested in applying for gifts, please bring a calendar or day planner so you can pick an appointment time for your gift pick up.

We will be holding public application sessions for the 2017 season for Kitchener-Waterloo residents at the following locations and times:

 

Nov 6:   Centreville Chicopee Community Centre, 141 Morgan Ave, Kitchener between 9:30-1pm

Nov 7:  Downtown Community Centre, 35-B Weber St W, Kitchener between 2-5pm

Nov 8:  Victoria Hills Community Centre, 10 Chopin Drive, Kitchener between 1-5pm

Nov 9:   Kingsdale Community Centre, 72 Wilson Ave, Kitchener between 9:30-12:30pm

Nov 10: Chandler Mowat Community Centre, 222 Chandler Drive, Kitchener between 10-1pm

Nov 14: Albert McCormick Community Centre, 500 Parkside Drive, Waterloo between 2:30-5:30pm

Nov 17: Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre, 150 Pioneer Drive, Kitchener between 12:30-4:30pm

Nov 20: Chandler Mowat Community Centre, 222 Chandler Drive, Kitchener between 1:30-4:30pm

Nov 22: Victoria Hills Community Centre, 10 Chopin Drive, Kitchener  between 1—5pm

Nov 23: Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly, 395 King St N, Waterloo  between  1:30-5pm

Nov 24: Kingsdale Community Centre, 72 Wilson Ave, Kitchener between 1—4:30pm

Nov 25: Downtown Community Centre, 35-B Weber St W, Kitchener  between 9:30-11:30am

 

Between November 1 and December 1, 2017 you can apply in person at the following location:

Emergency Food Hamper Program, 807 Guelph Street, Kitchener
Monday to Friday – 9:30am – 4pm

Applications will not be accepted after December 1, 2017.


Kitchener-Waterloo Residents PLEASE NOTE!

If you wish to register for gifts please bring your calendar or day planner! 

YOU WILL MAKE YOUR GIFT PICK-UP APPOINTMENT WHEN YOU REGISTER. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT LOSE YOUR APPOINTMENT INFORMATION!

You will not be able to reschedule your gift pick-up once an appointment has been made or if you miss it!


If you live in Cambridge

AND RECEIVE OW OR ODSP Christmas services are provided by the Salvation Army and the Firefighters Basket Fund. You must apply in person at the Cambridge Salvation Army, 16 Shade St, Cambridge.  November 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16 at 9:30-11:45 a.m. or 1:15- 3:00 p.m. You may also apply at the Hespeler Salvation Army on Monday, November 13, 2017, between 1-3pm.  No applications will be accepted after November 16th.

The Cambridge Salvation Army and Firefighters Basket fund requires you to bring the following:  November dental card or photocopy AND smile cards for all children as well as ID for everyone in the household.

AND DO NOT RECEIVE OW OR ODSP contact the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank (CSHFB).  They support families living on a low income at Christmas.  Registrations at CSHFB start November 6th and end December 8th.

You may register Monday to Thursday during regular business hours. Please note they are closed between 12pm-1pm for lunch.  You must bring ID, proof of income, and proof of residency.  If you have questions you may call 519-622-6550.

If you live in Wilmot or Wellesley Township…

Please apply during business hours at the Wilmot Family Resource Centre located at 175 Waterloo St #1, New Hamburg.  Please try to apply before December 8th.

If you live in the Woolwich Township…

Families’ and individuals’ eligibility will be confirmed by proving proof of residency, income and family members. People can register by calling or visiting the Woolwich Community Services Office, 519-669-5139 Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm after November 1st, located at 5 Memorial Avenue, Elmira. Please try to apply before December 8th.

If you live outside of Waterloo Region…

We are unfortunately unable to assist if you live outside Waterloo Region.  Try calling your local community information line, Salvation Army or emergency food provider/food bank to see if they offer additional food or toy distribution during the month of December.  We unfortunately are unable to make direct referrals to programs outside of Waterloo Region.
